Posh vs. Hull – extra reaction

After reflecting on the defeat at the weekend, I am pleased with what I saw. Posh have many many positives to take from this season. No one have taken posh apart so far due to many improvements in defence. Wooton looked excellent when he replaced Zak the bullet.

Taylor looks even better than CMS in possession and if he can compose himself; can finish better than the Scottish whippet. Boyd looks more composed and I think is now playing some of his best football if he can stay on his feet. Little can attack and now defend. Alcock looks good in left back, maybe the misplaced passes are due to the fast pace that we play. Sometimes I think we pass for the sake of it but in actual fact if you watch any of the big clubs; passing the ball around at the back is quite common.

Bennet still plays some wild long balls but he has also improved, especially on his defensive positions. Jones looked solid even though I worry every time he tries to kick a ball long from a back pass. Tunnicliffe was magnificent, easily better than Tommy Rowe and Tommy is playing very well in the diamond. McCann is a midfield general, if he had a bit more pace and played the ball a little less intensively he would be our best player in the centre, we have ever had since I can remember.

Frecklington has turned a corner this year and looks excellent on the right in attack and defence. Tomlin is one of those hot and cold footballers who has a temper he needs to control, I think half his problem is his ability to not stay cool and pick the right decisions in possession. Calm down, it’d ok Lee you don’t have to take on players every time or worry if you can’t turn on a six pence all the time. Overall our squad is ace and we can be sure if we play like we did against Hull half the teams in this league will fall at our ability to score goals.

Maybe we need to think about a shut up shop strategy against some of the other teams, however you can only play the way you train and there have been many examples of teams in the history of football who thrived on attacking football, let’s take Barcalona for Example…
